Celebrating the Sacraments

“Our kids were confirmed here and were members of the choir. Both of our daughters were married here, our grandchildren were baptized

in the lake, and my husband is buried in the Churchyard. I will join him there when it is time.”

Baptism, Confirmation, Weddings, and Memorial Services

In the church, we acknowledge that God is present in every occasion of our lives. Some of these moments we mark together with special celebrations of worship to highlight the ways in which God is always at work throughout the events of our lives. We call these celebrations Sacraments.

Marking these moments is important, which is why we place special emphasis on baptism, confirmation, weddings, and memorial services.

For more information about planning an upcoming service, contact our parish office.

Baptism

Welcoming any and all persons into a new life in Christ is one of the great privileges of every Christian community.

Baptism is a sacrament wherein we recognize through the outward sign of water the inward grace of God joining us with the ministry of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. As such, it is understood as full initiation into membership in the body of Christ and is best done in the presence of the full congregation.

To request a baptism, please click here to provide more information and receive a call from a member of our clergy.

Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation

Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation are rites where a mature commitment to Christ is welcomed by the Church through the laying on of hands by a bishop.  Confirmation is for those wishing to affirm the commitments made for them at their baptism.  Reception is for those previously confirmed in another Church who now find their ministry in the Episcopal Church.  Reaffirmation is for those who desire to recommit themselves to the vows made at their baptism.  All three require a period of guided preparation and self-examination which is offered annually by the staff and clergy of Christ Church.

For more information about these rites, click here.

Marriage

A marriage is a joyous celebration within a community of faith. The marriage ceremony is a public vow, aided by the prayers of those present, and strengthened by the grace of God.

Marriage is when two persons "enter into a life-long union, make their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows" (Book of Common Prayer, 861). The Episcopal Church recognizes marriage equality.

Christ Church offers two options for wedding venues: the historic chapel and our main church.

To inquire about a marriage at Christ Church please contact our Church Office for more information.

Memorial Services

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

– ROMANS 8:38-39

Burial is a holy rite of remembrance for the passing of a loved one in light of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is a solemn occasion that is among our greatest privileges to celebrate in the life of any person and our Church.

Planning a burial service at Christ Church can either be done by initiating a conversation with us through our parish administrator or a member of our clergy.
